Let’s talk Eric Holder

This is not about the FALN.

After the tragedy at Columbine when Eric Holder was still a lowly assistant attorney general with Clinton, he blamed the evils of the internet for Columbine.

His solution: censor the internet. don’t laugh, he really said it.

You see the internet would be very easy to censor because there are definately not billions of users, millions of websites, and all of these in different countries. True he said this in 1999 when there were less people online, but the ridiculousness of this “idea” still stands.

He has not had to address this borderline delusional idea yet, but I sure hope someone in the senate brings it up because I really want to hear how he will go about it.

Liberals, in general, have this idea that something that is offensive should be banned. so do “Christian” conservatives (why the self declared christians are the most intolerant still baffles me) who want to ban stuff like porn or Darwin.

The conservatives are the most contradictory because they are supposed to be about small government, but many want the government to ban things. we all know liberals like big government, so Holder does not comes as a shock, but to the small-government totalitarian censors I can only say: huh? really?

Sanjay Gupta

At first when the new president announced that Gupta would be the Surgeon General I was wary of this nomination since he was being nominated by Mr. Socialism.

Then I read that John Conyers aka “Johnny heal-all,” who is universal healthcare’s point man in the house was opposing Gupta I decided this was worth looking into.

Apparently when SiCKo came out Gupta called out Michael Moore for fudging facts to make the healthcare system seem in shambles.

Gupta is also opposed to Universal Healthcare, which means he is a huge plus.

Obama nominated Gupta for his star power, so people would actually listen to what the surgeon general says. Gupta would bring respectability to the position after the “self-love incident” of the 90’s.

He is a blessing in disguise for those of us who dislike big government

“All that matters is if you can shoot straight, not if you are straight”

This is a quote from a senator who will remain anonymous for now on the issue of gays in the military.

In what way could one’s sexual orientation effect one’s ability to be a soldier.

Arguements against gays in the military generally focus around the uncomfortability factor in the barracks. personally, if I were a soldier I would be more worried about having an unqualified bunkmate than a gay one.

There should be absolutely no motivation for a qualified person to be turned away from the military especially in a time of war.

Barack Obama has taken the lead on removing the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, and it will be interesting to see if he goes through with it.

By the way that anonymous senator is Barry Goldwater

“red ink as far as the eye can see”

This is a quote about Social security that did not come from Ron Paul or George Bush.

It came from Barack Obama.

This is good news. The Democrats have been the party of social security solvency denial since 2004.

He has not really layed out a plan for it, but recognizing the problem is the first step in problem solving, so kudos

The Cow Tax

This morning I read at the Business and Media Institute that the new administration is considering a $175 tax per cow in the country to offset “global warming.”

I understand that Global Warming is serious situation, actually even the amount of pollution in the country is also a problem, but taxing cows is the wrong way to deal with it for three reasons:
1. The price of of products from milk will go up, this is really 3rd grade economics. If you raise the price for business (through taxation) the businesses pass the new costs off to the consumer, so expect an increase in milk prices, butter prices, even buttermilk waffles will cost more.

2. The price of beef will go up, this works on the same principle as item #1. the effect of this price increase will mean that less people will be able to afford beef, which in an already shaky economy this could seriously effect the nutrition (along with the price increase of milk) of those that are suffering from trying economic times.

3. The small farmer has been an endangered species for years, many are already on government aid. These guys and gals are being pushed out by the larger corporations that would be able to afford the new taxes (albeit all while complaing), but these small farmers can’t, and might be gone forever.

Simply put, a tax increase in the current economic situations that will effect goods that almost everyone buys is imprudent and wrong.
