Hurry up the future of the country is on a deadline! I have a plane to catch that cannot be delayed!

My trip to Europe is more important than my legislative duties.

In all honesty I never thought i would see the day when congress actually came out and said they would do something, and then do the opposite. I always expected it would be behind closed doors. I truly have no words to express my dismay for what is going on here.

We can only hope that the public outcry is great enough against these dirty tricks that the vote is at least delayed.

Where are the Republicans that have done such a great job since losing power?

Obama, Japan, and the stimulus

The other day Barack Obama likened the economy of Japan of the nineties or the “lost decade,” as to what would happen if the United States would not do anything. (pass his stimulus)

This is interesting since the stimulus package has the US moving more toward the model that Japan has where instead of acting as an umpire in business like the US has traditionally done; now the government will be acting more like a coach of industry like the government of Japan does.

This “coach” role of government over the economy is what caused the economy of japan to slump in the nineties because the government was so close to business that when the Bank of Japan failed to handle interest rates properly both businesses and government took a prolonged spill. In the US only banks took the spill initially, and even now we are starting to recover before the stimulus is even printed, but this new found Obama closeness will only make   the failings of government reflect more starkly on business.

The thought behind this being that if you create a market there will be companies there to meet it, and now even more companies will become dependent on government dollars to stay profitable. What happens when the government dollars stop?

The stimulus is creating an addiction that people will appreciate at first, but when this easy money runs out there will have to be more to come or else this “artificial employment” will dvanish.

This begs the question of the new president: what gives?

I figured it out!

I know why libererals love high taxes.

They don’t pay any.

This should be sending shockwaves through the media that a man (Tommy Daschle) who has clamored for people to be giving everything they own to the government for his entire life did not do the same thing himself.

It seems to me that all taxes are regressive because the limosuine liberals that support them always get out of paying them, and it is always those of us who are not millionares that bear the burden for their system.

It is the same with the president, today Barack Obama said that you cannot spend what ypou don’t have, this should send a (!) through your head since we are about to increase the deficit by about 15% in two votes.

Fear Mongering

Today Barack Obama said that if the mega-pork bill was not passed that our economy “may never recover.”

That’s funny because I thought the days of government fear mongering under president Bush were over, guess not.

I really do not have an in depth statement about this because we all are taking it for what it is, a lie. Many of you have studied economics and can also count to 6, so seeing through this shouldn’t be a problem.

Marijuana and Google earth

Today in Switzerland police used google Earth to track down a marijuana farm, and destroy it.

I am against this because I am for legalization, but from a more practical perspective I would be willing to make small amounts of marijuana a ticket crime.

The problem I have with drug laws are that they send poeple to prison for an extended period of time, but at the same time people who assault others get a suspended sentence. It’s absurd.

Barack said that he would loom into decriminalization, has it happened? no. will it? no. Our prisons are ovvercrowded and we are letting poeple who harm themselves voluntarily in through drug laws, and people who harm others walk free.

John Carter…Hero

As many people know Democrats do not like to pay the taxes that they so gleefully pry upon the hardworking American populous. (see geithner, Timothy)

Charles Rangel (D-who cares) also believes that he does not have to pay taxes, or pay fair rent for that matter. John Carter (R-Hero) has introduced a bill that would give the average American taxpayer that makes a “mistake” an extension onpaying their taxes like rangel and Geithner got.

I thank him for pointing out the tragic reality of two-face in our political system, and the fact that the most tax happy of all have good reason to be so ready to tax, since they don’t pay it

The Stimulus

The best description of the Stimulus Bill is from Thomas Sowell, who compared it to “mailing a letter to the fire department to inform them that your home is burning”

With the stimulus going through government it will just take longer to get to the people, because of the numerous channels of government that the money will have to go through before it actually gets to you and me.

We all know that putting things through numerous government channels is the best way to do things, since the government has never wasted, lost, or used money inneficiently.

The alternative to massive government spending is a massive federal tax holiday, this would give people a greater amount of money to spend by next friday on payday.

The government will have the same net loss either way, but since it is the liberal mantra to expand government over everything else these tax breaks will not happen*

*actually if you don’t pay any taxes you still get a tax refund, my mistake that’s welfare

Barack…is this transparency?

I was told that the current presidency was suppossed to be the most open and transparent ever, especially after the “evil” Bush Administration, with their “secrets” and “Haliburton” left.

Apparently it is not meant to be, Obama will not let anyone talk to the media, and when they do talk to the media nothing is said. Actually the media is given a list of questions that they can ask before any press conference, and if a member of the press strays from the script they are not invited back.

That is the nearest thing to a dictatorship that we have seen in awhile, at least that is what the media would say if Bush were doing it.

I could only hope that the media will come to their senses and start beating the war drums against Obama to keep to his promises, but that probably won’t happen

Freedom of speech

This is one of the core freedoms that our nation was founded upon, and, as often, it is in jeopardy.

Generally under attack from both the left who wish to ban hate speech, and the right who want to ban “offensive speech.”
These rights are most vulnerable on campuses across the country.
Liberal professors do not like to hear kids that disagree with them, and some conservative administrators like to establish free speech zones, which ironically doesn’t call the rest of campus restricted speech zones.
There is an organization called FIRE (Foundation for individual rights in education) that protects the rights of students to express themselves on campus, and are integral to protecting our rights.
My campus had a “racism reporting system,” where a student could anonymously report another student for saying something racist, and then the campus would keep a record.
There was one student who called “shotgun” when he wanted the front seat of the car,and now has racist stamped on his record because apparently calling shotgun is racist.
This is also a nice way to slander your enemies anonymously.
FIRE fought against this, and won.Thank you FIRE.

Timothy Geithner

It was my understanding that the treasury secretary is in charge of taxation in this country, so what happens if he does not pay it?

As a libertarian I dislike taxes nearly as much as foreign wars, but Timothy Geithner is just a liberal two-face.

Liberals like him like to talk about taxation, but then do not pay it themselves. this should come as no shock.

Ted Kennedy runs several charitable organizations, which he donates to to get a write-off from the government. He is in charge of these charitable organizations that he donates to, and draws a salary as a board member.

Simply, the money that he wrote off so he did not have to pay it in taxes is then paid back to him. ted kennedy the tax and spend liberal does not participate in the tax part, but just likes the spend part. (how shocking)

Geithner did pay his taxes, to be fair, but only after he was found out.
